Dev Diary #5: Monsters and Spawn Points
Monsters spawn in groups at spawn points. Elite and famed monsters, boss phases and the loot list are in this diary.
Monsters are not scattered at random; each one belongs to a spawn point. The quest system uses these spawn points too.
How spawn points work
Elite and famed monsters
Bosses
Boss monsters move into new phases when their health drops below set thresholds, and their behaviour changes as the fight goes on.
Loot
Click the chest icon next to a monster's name to see what it can drop, which makes it easier to decide what to hunt.
Note: the game is in development; values may change during beta testing.

How spawn points work
- A spawn point usually holds 5 monsters.
- A slain monster comes back after about 20 seconds.
- Spawn points wake up when a player comes near and go to sleep when everyone leaves. That keeps the game smooth even with hundreds of monsters on a map.
Elite and famed monsters
- Every respawn has a small chance to be an elite.
- Much more rarely a famed monster appears. Famed monsters have 8 times the normal health and usually need a party.
