Dev Diary #12: Chat and Channels
Local, Party, Clan, World and Trade tabs, shortcuts, item links and flood protection.
The chat window is where players meet. We split it into channels so conversations do not get mixed up.

Flood protection
Writing more than 6 lines in 10 seconds mutes you for 30 seconds, so the channels stay readable.

The chat window is where players meet. We split it into channels so conversations do not get mixed up.
Channels
- Local: players within about 100 metres.
- Party: your party only.
- Clan: your clan only.
- World: the whole server.
- Trade: for buying and selling.
Shortcuts
- Start a message with ! or /s to write in World. This channel has a 5-second cooldown.
- Use $ or /t for the Trade channel.
- Shift-click an item to link it in chat. Others can click the link to see its stats.
Flood protection
Writing more than 6 lines in 10 seconds mutes you for 30 seconds, so the channels stay readable.
